Agent-native company
An agent-native company is one whose operating work is performed by a persistent fleet of AI agents under human governance from the outset, rather than by staff whose tasks were later automated.
Automating a company and building one for agents produce very different companies.
The distinction is not degree of automation. A company that automates existing processes inherits the shape of the org chart it started with: handoffs designed for humans, approvals sized for human latency, records kept for human memory.
A company built for agents from the start makes different choices. Work is decomposed for parallel execution rather than sequential handoff. Approvals are gates on classes of action rather than reviews of individual items. Records are written continuously because nobody will reconstruct them later.
For the studio this matters commercially: agent-native companies scale output without proportional headcount, which changes their capital requirements and their unit economics — and makes them a distinct financing category rather than software companies with better tooling.
